Do I need an account to use the shopping list?
No. Open BuyBye and start adding items — everything saves on your device. An account is optional, and only exists so you can sync across phones or share a list with someone else.
Is it really free?
Yes — every feature is usable for free, with no ads on any tier: shared lists, auto-categorization, voice input, recipes, meal planner. The free tier is metered on depth: up to 5 lists, a 5-recipe box, the current week of meal planning, and 2 collaborators per shared list. Pro (Individual: $1.99/month or $9.99/year; Family: $14.99/year for up to 6 accounts) lifts those caps — unlimited lists, recipes and collaborators, plus multi-week meal planning — and adds recurring list templates, custom category ordering, and item photos. Free to shop; Pro to plan.
Can I share a grocery list with my partner or flatmate?
Yes. Create a list, tap share, send them the link. Both phones update in real time. If one of you is in the basement of a supermarket with no signal, the changes queue and merge when you're back online.
Does it work offline?
Yes — BuyBye is a PWA and offline-first. Your list lives on your device; edits sync whenever the network comes back. You can use the whole app on airplane mode.
Which languages are supported?
The interface and voice input support English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Hindi and Japanese. Auto-categorization is multilingual too — type "leche" or "leite" and it still lands in Dairy.
I'm getting a security warning when I try to install BuyBye on Android. Is it safe?
Yes, it's safe. Some Android browsers install web apps in a way that Google Play Protect doesn't fully trust, which can trigger a security warning even though the app itself is fine. If this happens to you, please try installing BuyBye from the Google Chrome browser instead — that usually clears the warning. Either way, everything loads over HTTPS straight from getbuybye.com.
